My gameboy advance SP battery pack has mysteriously expanded, why?

You should just try opening the back compartment with a screw driver. The battery is probably uh, swollen? or blew up a bit? I don't know, but you know how batteries are. Something could have been lodged into the battery compartment or the cover is just out of place. If it still works, then it'll be fine.
