I have a 1990 ford ranger with a mazda 5 sp and i can't get the slave cylinder out?

i was wondering how do i get the clutch slave cylnder out of the tranny, its located on the driver side. i was told it pulls out but i've been pulling on it for a good 20 minutes and its not coming out. any suggestions? please and thank you!!!!
